Our Network Center (NC), is  connected worldwide via FGC, Genuity and Qwest.

All connections provide bandwidth as required.

FGC is a Tier 1 provider. They operate an 18,000-mile fiber optic network. Dense Wave Division Multiplexing technology is used to  provide 600 gigabytes per second of data capacity worldwide. FGC has an ATM  fiber node entering the same building as our NC.

Qwest connects to our NC with an OC-48 line. Genuity is connected with an OC-48 connection also. They both have ATM fiber nodes in  the same building as our NC. The Qwest and Genuity connections give us additional  data capacity and better routes between Europe, USA, Latin America, and Asia.  With our three carriers, our router has 180,000 possible routes to send each  packet of data traffic.

Because our NC is located in the same building as these Tier 1 carriers,  we are not required to link to the Internet through an OC3 or T3 Telecom circuit.  The NC is directly connected by independant cables to the Frontier Global Center, Genuity and Qwest worldwide fiber optic networks.  Circuit failure between us and their internet backbone cables is not possible.

 Network Efficiency and Reliability:

We use intelligent end-user routing software, called Border Gateway Protocol  (BGP), between Qwest and FGC, who also use it. BGP identifies which route is  the most efficient for each data packet, and then uses this route to send the  data packet. This increases the download speed
for users accessing web pages  from our servers.

A common reason for downtime on the internet is circuit failure on the Tier 1  backbone. (The prime data highway).
Because of this we use two Tier 1  providers. If one goes down we switch all traffic to the other.  Due to our  connections to FGC and Qwest we share their distribution architecture. We  therefore share their private peering network connections to major Internet  carriers such as MCI, Sprint, UUNET, EUNET, AT&T, AOL, Best, Erols,  @Home, IBM Advantis and others. These private peering arrangements allow data to be exchanged with every major backbone carrier worldwide on a one-to-one  basis.

To put it simply, your site can be accessed quickly from anywhere in the world when you host it with Oceanhosting.com

The most common cause of downtime on the internet is telephone circuit  failure between the servers and the backbone. As our servers are connected  directly to the backbone, via cable, we do not suffer from this  problem.  Our direct connection to FGC is the same system used by YAHOO. If  you can connect to Yahoo you can connect to our servers. Also your web site will enjoy the same technological advantages in its network functions as does Yahoo.
